Guest Post: Favorite Fall Lipsticks!

*Anita and I did some guest posting for each other! Click here to see my Fall Outfit Ideas post.*

Hi everyone!

Fall is coming quicker as some of us want! (I can't wait though!) And this means my lipsticks get darker and browner.

I love switching my pinks and corals to browny, plummy colors. I personally wear lipstick everyday but you could also wear a lipgloss in a similar shade to the lipsticks I'm about to show you. I also know that Maybelline does a Babylips in a lovely plummy color called Grape Wine which gives a nice sheer but dark color.

I know these shades are all kind of similar but they do look more different in real life. The light kind of made them all look a little browny.

left to right:
Maroon (Catrice), Hot Tahiti (MAC), Mauve it over (Revlon), Berry Smoothie (Revlon), Pink Truffle (Revlon)

First, we have Hot Tahiti by Mac. This is a gorgeous dark red with a slight sheen. You can built this up to full opacity or apply it sheer. It's s glaze so it applies like a dream and feels smoothing and moisturizing.

It has good staying power, but it obviously doesn't stay as long as a matte color would.

This is my go-to red lipstick in the fall/winter time.

sorry, out of focus :(
Next up, we have Mauve it over by Revlon. It's a matte mauve brown beige color. It looks quite natural on the lips because it's not overly shimmery or anything like that.

If you have darker lips though, i would stay away from this because it's almost a bit to light for me and i'm pretty fair.

This lipstick stays on for ages due to the matte finish. The downside is, that it dries out your lips quite a but, so if you suffer from dry lips i wouldn't recommend this! If you wear a lip balm under it, the problem is solved!

Here we have, Maroon by Catrice. This is a dark browny neutral color. It comes of quite dark on the lips but it's still wearable because of the natural color.

It kind of looks like a mixture of Hot Tahiti and Mauve it over as you can see in the photo below.

This lipstick is very moisturizing and stays on quite a while. I have to touch it up a few times during the day though.

If you love very pigmented lipsticks i would suggest the Catrice ones. They all have really nice color payoff!

The two last lipsticks are Revlon's lip butters. I've done a full review of these on my blog.

You can read it over here!

Thank you for reading everyone!

Review: Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush by Kayla

Hi guys! Kayla from All Things Beauty has a great review to share with you! Thank you for guest posting! Take it away...

Hey everyone!  Well as you can see, today I'm doing a review on the Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush mascara. A little disclaimer: I am not being paid to do this by any means, I just really like this product and thought it might be helpful to those who aren't sure whether they should buy it or not.

I think this is one of the best drugstore mascaras ever! I know Maybelline has always had good mascaras for a lot of people, then others don't really like them. I've kind of had mixed feelings about their mascaras in general. I always like to try their newest one, but the whole Falsies Collection didn't impress me at all. I thought they clumped really bad which made me want to pick at it all day, and it flaked throughout the day which does NOT look good. I was kind of excited to try this product out for some reason though. So I went down to walmart and picked it up, pretty recently after it came out.

I never used to curl my lashes before I put on mascara but I think it makes a huge difference with this mascara so I highly recommend it! This mascara is definitely my favorite so far. It adds so much volume to your lashes and it adds a lot of length as well! It lasts all day without having to reapply (even the non-waterproof which is what I have). It doesn't flake at all and feels very smooth on your lashes. It can give your eyes a dramatic look, if that's what you want then apply up to 3 coats. 1 coat gives a nice amount of length and volume and looks pretty and natural. 2 coats is what I usually wear and I think it's perfect! Doesn't make your eyes look too dramatic but gives them a perfect amount of length and volume.

When I first opened up the mascara to try it out, I was a little worried that it would clump because it just looked like that kind of brush but it has a such a smooth application and it's very flexible. It works to cover all of your lashes, even the littlest ones in the outer corner. I really can't say a bad thing about this mascara I love it! Would so recommend this product for anyone wanting to try out a new mascara, or just starting out with makeup, this is a great product!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and it was helpful to you! Have a great day! :)

Soft Summery Day Look- by Sara

Hi everyone, please welcome Sara! She has a great everyday look to share with you guys! Her link is at the bottom of the post. You should definitely check out her blog!

Hey, I’m Sara, from De l’Etoile! This is my first guest post, so I am very excited! Some of the pictures are clearer than others, so I apologize on behalf of my camera, which has a mind of its own. :)

Today’s tutorial is for a soft, summery, day look. During the summer, you don’t want to weigh down your natural beauty with too much makeup. So here’s a look that brings out your eyes, instead of hiding them.

I’m using colors from Urban Decay’s “Naked” palette, but if you have similar colors, those will work out great as well.

1. Start out with clean eyelids, and don’t forget to apply primer to avoid creases as the day progresses.

2. Blend “Buck,” a matte copper tone, into, and just above, the crease of your eyelids. The darker you apply it, the deeper set your eyes will appear.

3. Brush “Half Baked,” a light shimmery gold, onto the entire lower half of your lid. Then, go back and pat some extra gold in the middle, right above your pupil.

4. With a thin brush, line your eyes with “Hustle,” a dark maple. Pack it on as much as you prefer, and extend the line as far toward the inner corner of your eye as you would like. I stopped about halfway across my upper lash line. Don’t forget the bottom lash line, as well!

5. Apply “Virgin,” a sheer nude highlighter, in three places: just below your eyebrows, on the inner corner of your eye, and underneath your eyes to cover dark circles. This eliminates any impression of fatigue.

6. Lastly, add a little mascara, and you’re done! You can add eyeliner, but it isn’t really necessary because of step 4.

And now you have a day look for any occasion, that looks great with any eye color! Thank you so much for reading, and thank you to Kassica for inviting me to Kassica Life!

Please feel free to check out my home blog, De l’Etoile!

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait Review and Swatches

About a week ago I stopped by my local drugstore and picked up my first Revlon lip butter! I know, I know, it's kind of late for me to try one but better late than never, right?

The color I got is called Peach Parfait. I love how all 20 shades of the lip butters in this line are named after treats and desserts such as gumdrop, lollipop, and red velvet. The packaging is so helpful! The outsides are color coded with the shade and the top has a clear lid to allow you to see the actual lip butter without opening it.

Peach Parfait is a reddish pink with a little golden shimmer. It's perfect for natural looks! Lip butters are nice because they are light yet pigmented. It's not as sticky as lip gloss! Have you ever just walked out the door and the wind blows your hair right onto lips and then your hair gets stuck on your mouth? Well, it's not going to happen with lip butters! But, it is quite soft so you would want to be careful to make sure it doesn't squish all over the top.

Anyway, I really love it and I would recommend peach parfait to anyone that hasn't tried it yet!

Quality Makeup Brushes

Quality makeup brushes can make all the difference on how well your makeup looks. Unfortunately, lots of the name brands like MAC or Stila charge $20-40 per brush. By the time you've collected a good set of brushes, you would have spent over $100! Well, Sigma has lots of great and affordable options when it comes to brushes. Their individual brushes are about $10-20 but they have awesome deals on their brush kits. For a beginner I would recommend their travel kits because those include several brushes for $50-60 (depending on which kit you buy) plus a bag/container to store all the brushes in! I know $50 may seem like a lot of money just spent on brushes but it's better than spending over $100 on the same quality brushes. Sigma brushes are very good quality and I have one of their travel kits. The brushes are really soft and durable. They have a variety of brushes for the face, eyes, and lips! I think they're a great investment!

What Sigma products do you recommend if you own any? Are there any other brush brands that you recommend?

*This post is my honest opinion. I am not being sponsored and this was not sent to me to try.
